Lockdown Easing: Things to do in Manchester after April 21st

Bees are buzzing, evenings are getting lighter, the sun is starting to make an appearance, and the light at the end of the lockdown tunnel is getting even closer. Finally free from the four walls of your house the world's your oyster, but with so many options for how best to make up for that lost time how do you choose?!

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We’ve searched far and wide and in every nook and cranny to give you the best guide to some of the best post-lockdown activities and events in Manchester.

At the time of writing, the current government roadmap means that as of the 29th of March:

-People will be allowed to meet outside, either with one other household or within the "rule of six", including in private gardens

-The stay at home rule will end, but the government will urge people to stay local as much as possible

-Outdoor sport facilities will reopen, including golf courses and tennis and basketball courts, and formally organised outdoor sports can restart

-Weddings attended by up to six people can take place in any circumstances

As of the 12th of April:

-All shops allowed to open, along with close-contact services, including hairdressers and beauty salons (including in people's homes)

-Restaurants and pubs allowed to serve food and alcohol to customers sitting outdoors

-Gyms and spas can reopen, as can zoos, theme parks, libraries and community centres

dining in the dark manchester

Ever wondered what it is like to eat in the dark? Eminent psychologists have been advocating dining in the dark as the ultimate taste experience for many years. Studies show that 80 percent of people eat with their eyes; with that sense eliminated, the theory is that the other senses—namely taste and smell—take over to elevate your meal to a whole new level. After donning your blindfold in the darkened, candlelit room, you'll soon realise that focusing on taste and smell alone can be a truly enlightening experience—provided you're not afraid of the dark!

(ps. There is a delicious Vegan menu 😌)
